Read about bed differences below. A simple explanation would be that natural sunlight varies during the day from low UVB in the early morning to high UVB in the midday. Standard Pressure tanning has the sunburn potential of the midday sun and the suntanning potential of the early morning sun. Medium and High Pressure offer the tanning potential of the midday sun and the burning potential of the early morning sun.
What characterizes a Standard Pressure bed?
Tanning beds delivering UV light with fluorescent lamps are referred to as standard pressure beds. The output tends to be rich in UVB and much lower in UVA. Results take longer to achieve and require more tanning sessions with controlled exposures (5%–10% UVB with 15 and 20 minute maximum exposures times).
What characterizes a Medium Pressure bed?
When high pressure quartz facial bulbs are added to a standard pressure bed, it is referred to as a medium pressure bed. The output tends to be lower in UVB and higher in UVA. Results are much quicker with shorter exposure times required (3%–5% UVB with 15 minute maximum exposure times).
What characterizes a High Pressure bed?
High pressure beds use only quartz facial bulbs to deliver results. These bulbs have a much lower content of UVB and the greatest amounts of UVA, thus greatly reducing the risks of burning. Results are tremendous with fewer sessions needed (3%–5% UVB with 12 minute maximum exposure times).
